1. Look at the movement
Automatic watches are powered by the movement of the wrist and do not require batteries. There are two types of movements to consider when choosing an automatic watch: mechanical and automatic. A mechanical movement is the traditional method of powering a watch, while an automatic movement winds itself.
2. Consider the size of your watch
The size of the watch is important as it should fit comfortably on the wrist. Automatic watches tend to be larger than quartz watches due to the movement, so choose a watch that fits your wrist size.
3. Look at the characteristics
Automatic watches have a range of functions, from chronographs to moon phases to power reserve indicators. Consider the features you need and choose a watch that meets your requirements.

Automatic watches are a popular choice for many watch enthusiasts. They uniquely blend traditional craftsmanship with modern technology to deliver accurate timekeeping, reliable performance and exceptional aesthetics. However, adjusting the speed of an automatic watch can be a challenge for some users. In this article, we discuss how to adjust the speed of an automatic watch to ensure optimal performance.
First, let's understand how an automatic watch works. Automatic watches use a self-winding mechanism that uses the movement of the wearer to power the watch. They have a rotor that rotates with the movement of the wearer's arm, thus winding the mainspring of the watch. This in turn powers the watch's movement and keeps accurate time.
Automatic watches have a balance wheel oscillator that determines the speed or frequency of the watch. The balance wheel swings back and forth, and the frequency of its movement determines the seconds, minutes and hours of the watch. If the balance wheel is not adjusted properly, the watch may lose or gain seconds over time, resulting in inaccurate timekeeping.
To adjust the speed of an automatic watch, you first need to determine whether the watch is going too fast or too slow. The easiest way to do this is to use a stopwatch or timer that can measure time accurately. Start the stopwatch or timer and count the number of seconds the watch gains or loses each day. A healthy automatic watch should not move or walk for more than 5 seconds per day.
